The Network for Sustainable Financial Markets (SFM) presents the first Participants only webinar with Nick Robins, Co-Director of Inquiry into the Design of a Sustainable Financial System at UNEP with a particular focus on its first report "Aligning the Financial System with Sustainable Development: An Invitation".
The Inquiry into the Design of a Sustainable Financial System has been initiated by the United Nations Environment Programme to advance design options that would deliver a step change in the financial system’s effectiveness in mobilizing capital towards a green and inclusive economy.
Established in January 2014, it published its first report "Aligning the Financial System with Sustainable Development: An Invitation" late June. The Invitation seeks to frame the challenge as an opportunity to accelerate the transition to a green inclusive economic pathway, and a challenge that has to be addressed if that transition is to take place in a timely manner. The invitation makes clear that there are already many moves to reshape financial markets such that they are better aligned to sustainability outcomes - the challenge is not so much to invent something new than to crystallize, amplify and accelerate emerging policy innovations.
