Alex Veys

Bio:

Alex is a partner and asset manager at Beetle Capital, a natural capital asset management platform. He runs their fixed income group which uses natural capital as well as traditional fixed income investment analysis to generate strong returns. Natural capital is defined as a combination of the world’s renewable and non-renewable resources.
 
Before joining Beetle, Alex spent 12 months undertaking various consulting projects on green bonds and energy efficiency. He was also a Director of Capital SCF (a corporate finance and strategy boutique) where he was responsible for the assessment, analysis and presentation of clean technology and sustainable energy companies to VC and PE funds.  He advised FTSE100 companies on debt issuance as well as fixed income trading and PM systems. He also set up and launched both a solar farm (SolarBear) and waste to energy (Adgen) business.
 
Before this he completed an MSc in Sustainable Energy Futures at Imperial College, London where his thesis was on carbon footprints.
 
From 1996 to 2007, Alex was a Portfolio Manager at Fidelity Investments, London where he managed corporate, aggregate, gilt, international and European bond funds to the value of USD 5 billion using both cash and derivatives in unitised, segregated and liability driven vehicles. Three quarters of his funds were “buy” rated by the investment consultants with the others being on hold. All had strong long term performance records. Alex was also extensively involved in marketing and liaising with prospective clients, consultants and trustees and authored a short book on derivative instruments.
 
Prior to this, Alex worked as a quantitative analyst for NatWest Markets, Lehman Brothers and Manufacturers Hanover.
 
Alex has and MA and MEng from Cambridge University in addition to his recent MSc
