Current activities
Keith is currently working on fiduciary duty issues, particularly the balance fiduciaries must strike between short-term goals and long-term obligations. He is also helping to build collaboration initiatives between institutional investors on shared priorities.
BIO:
Mr. Johnson heads the Institutional Investor Services practice group at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., a Wisconsin-based law firm. He represents pension funds and institutional investors on fiduciary, investment, securities litigation and corporate governance matters. He is also Program Director of the Wisconsin International Corporate Governance Initiative at the University of Wisconsin Law School.
Previously, Mr. Johnson served as Chief Legal Officer for the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, the ninth largest public pension fund in the United States, where he managed SWIB’s corporate governance, investment legal services and securities litigation programs. He held posts as Co-Chair of the Council of Institutional Investors International Committee and President of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys. He has published numerous articles on institutional investor issues and regularly presents at legal and investor conferences in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. Mr. Johnson holds B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin and is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar and American Bar Association.
Interests
Mr. Johnson cites the 25 years he has devoted to furthering the interests of pension fund beneficiaries and concern for the future of his children and grandchildren as factors that motivated him to join the Network for Sustainable Financial Markets.
