BIO:
Florian Sommer (German) is Head of Sustainability Research at Fortis Investments’ SRI Investment Centre. Florian is leading the ESG research and is responsible for the SRI processes for equity and fixed income products. He joined Fortis Investments in 2005 and played a key role in developing the ‘Fortis Sustainability Radar’, the core framework for identifying investment risks and opportunities from broader social and environmental trends. Florian is also co-ordinating the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) across Fortis Investments.
Before joining Fortis Investments, Florian was a Principal Sustainability Advisor at Forum for the Future (London) where he led strategic advisory projects for large corporate clients. Prior to that he worked at the New Economics Foundation, a London based think tank, where he managed a range of policy research projects aimed at making people and the environment count in economic decision making.
Florian holds an MSc in ‘Environmental Assessment and Evaluation’ from the London School of Economics and the UK Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
