BIO:
I am a chartered accountant working for PricewaterhouseCoopers (and before that KPMG), presently working in the field of corporate governance and director/board education. For both audit firms I launched board (education) programs. In that capacity I both attended numerous board education events for non-executive directors, and also moderate board education events for both private companies and in the not-for-profit industry myself.
INTERESTS:
In this role, but also given my previous experience in financial audit and forensic investigations, and as a finance director (for two years) in a privately held company, I really became interested in the behavioural aspects of governance. Of course we all understand the importance of sound internal control, reporting, enforcement and so on, but the management override of internal control and the mechanics of financial markets are much tougher challenges. So, if we can think of other responses to crises than new regulation (which will not avoid the next crisis as we all know), I am really happy to join the network and share thoughts and knowledge.
