Katie joined the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) in March 2009 as the ESG Research Manager for the RI Academy. In February this year, RIAA was awarded $2.5 million in funding from the Australian Federal Government in order to develop the Academy. The Academy will be the first in the world and it is hoped that it will generate a global appeal. Katie brings 8 years of investment experience to RIAA. She has recently returned to Australia after an extended period in the UK where she worked for Newton Investment Management. At Newton, Katie’s first 4 years were spent as a trainee fund manager for the Global Multi-Asset team. Her second 4 years were spent as the SRI Officer and member of the Responsible Investment Strategy Group. In 2009, Katie accepted a short term contract to work with the UN-backed Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI). Her specific remit was to help the PRI with the verification of the 2008 questionnaire responses of 20 signatories located in the Asia-Pacific region.
Katie graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. While she was in the UK, she gained her Investment Management Certificate. Since being in Australia, Katie has also qualified as a Lead Auditor in Environmental Management Systems.
