Identifying and optimizing the nexus between environmental and social issues and business is the fundamental goal of sustainability innovator, Nelson A. Switzer. Through his project work, his lectures and writings, Nelson demonstrates the interaction between business, the environment and the community and sketches a path toward sustainability. Nelson is the founder of asherleaf consulting inc., a multidisciplinary sustainability advisory practice with specialized knowledge in a variety of sectors including finance, energy, transportation and asset management for both public and private institutions. asherleaf’s innovations, collaborative approach and network complement and enhance the aspirations, goals and decision-making abilities of their clients.
Nelson’s vast knowledge of policy, climate change, biodiversity, water, risk management, environmental markets, energy, finance, public disclosure and corporate and community affairs makes him one of the most well-versed and well respected professionals working in his field. His work has been adopted by regional, national and international companies and governments looking to understand and manage complex environmental, social, economic and governance issues that affect profit, share value and reputation.
Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of New Brunswick and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Toronto. He was named an emerging environmental leader by the Environment & Energy Conference in 2007.
