Objectives: This working group has a deliberately broad scope. We will be evaluating the problems that have come to light in the current market crisis, and propose a range of reform measures in light of the best available research.
Anticipated timetable: We seek to identify the important questions that a regulatory reform agenda must address by the end of May. We will produce two different White Papers. The first, by early October, will suggest regulatory reforms that represent best practice for creating market stability and long-term investment security, particularly for pension and other long-term investors and beneficiaries. The second White Paper will suggest a more ambitious regulatory agenda, designed to produce the conditions under which a transition to a low-carbon economy would become feasible, and in which pension fund investment would directly support quality infrastructure, carbon-neutral energy and global economic development.
