Adrian recently moved back into a line role in banking, as CFO/COO for Glitnir Bank in London, after seven years running his own Risk Management and Financial Control consultancy. He has held several senior finance and operations roles in investment banking, both in the UK and abroad.
Having trained as an accountant with ANZ Grindlays, Adrian spent some time with UBS before joining Erste Bank, as Financial Controller for their London operations. He became Deputy Branch Manager, with responsibility for Finance and Operations before moving to Prague to help start Erste’s new bank in the Czech Republic. On his return to the UK, Adrian became Head of Finance, Europe for the Bank of Montreal. Upon leaving, he founded his own consultancy, advising corporate and investment banks on matters such as Basel II, FSA regulation, management information systems and accounting control.
He now works for Glitnir, the Icelandic Bank which is prominent in providing finance to the geothermal industry and which has recently launched a sustainable retail deposit product. The product will allocate funds to a new global environmental fund whose objective is to support environmental projects, focused on sustainable energy and sustainable seafood industry.
Adrian has a BSc (Econ) in Political Science from the University of Wales and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, where he sits on the Research Committee and is vice-chair of ACCA’s Financial Services Network Panel.
His particular interests are cricket and singing. He also takes an interest in how to use Risk Management and Financial Control disciplines in Financial Services companies to plan better for the long term, whilst retaining short term flexibility.
