Dr. Calvello is founder of Environmental Alpha, a consulting firm that helps institutional investors develop climate change-based risk management and investment strategies. He has worked in the investment business for over 25 years.
Dr. Calvello earned a Ph.D. in Contemporary European Philosophy from DePaul University and a post-doctoral certificate in business from New York University's Stern School of Business. Dr. Calvello writes and speaks extensively about environmental investing, alpha-centric investing, and alpha/beta separation. His most recent publications include “Green Trends and Green Backs” and “Build, Buy, Lease: Three Approaches to Alpha Generation.” Dr. Calvello has chaired major portable alpha and asset allocation conferences in Sydney, Hong Kong, New York, and Copenhagen and regularly provides board education to pension funds and non-profits. Dr. Calvello is on the Charter Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association Advisory Board, a member of the Chicago Quantitative Alliance, a member of the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange.
President of the Illinois Chapter of US Lacrosse. Together with his wife Lisa and three children, Giana, Joe, and Michael, he resides in suburban Chicago.
