Renard Siew is a PhD Candidate at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) focusing on the effectiveness of sustainability reporting/rating tools in both the corporate and building/infrastructure sector. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Hons) and is a Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) - Design & As-Built.
Prior to commencing his PhD, he has worked in the role of business performance advisory at Sime Darby, a multinational conglomerate in South East Asia with core businesses in Plantations, Property, Motors, Industrial, Healthcare and Allied Product Services. He was also previously a market research analyst for Investing for Charity, where he was responsible for the ESG research and engagement with stakeholders. He has also done a short stint as a management consultant with 180 Degrees Consulting, where he had developed a Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework for Books in Homes, Australia.
I am particularly interested in exploring more effective ways in which we can integrate ESG into portfolio investments. I am also constantly seeking for potential project collaborations (with academics or practitioners) that would help enhance the state- of- the- art in socially responsible investing.
