Russell Sparkes has 18 years experience of managing SRI funds since joining the Central Finance Board of the Methodist Church (CFB) in May 1994. He was appointed CFB Chief investment Officer in September 2005. From July 1996 to July 2011 he was also the Secretary of the Joint Advisory Committee on the Ethics of Investment of the Methodist Church.
He has written two major books on ethical investment: the Ethical Investor (Harper Collins 1995), was the first UK book on this subject by a mainstream publisher. Socially Responsible Investment – A Global Revolution was published simultaneously in the UK and US by John Wiley in November 2002, and was the first authoritative examination of SRI written for trustees and institutional investors. He has been described as one of the world’s leading experts on SRI, and a recent meta analysis by St Andrews University found him to be “the most cited author ” in academic research on the subject.
For six years he was a non-executive director of the UK Social Investment Forum.
