Will Oulton

Bio:

Will is the founder of a private consultancy practice advising companies and investors on the development of corporate responsibility practices as well as playing a leading role in the development of the global responsible investment market.

CRG’s clients include multinational companies, investment institutions, NGOs and FTSE Group, where Will acts as the pro tem Head of Responsible Investment in leading the ongoing management and development of the company’s responsible investment indices and services including the flag ship FTSE4Good Index series. He also devised and introduced the FTSE4Good Ibex index launched in April 2008. In this capacity Will is a member of the FTSE4Good Policy Committee, FTSE4Good US Advisory Committee, FTSE4Good Breast Milk Substitutes Expert Committee and the FTSE4Good Criteria Development Committee.

Will is also a co-founder of RI Metrics, a company launched in November 2007 which specialises in the evaluation and rating of global fund managers’ responsible investment competencies and practices.

Prior to his consultancy practice, Will was Deputy Chief Executive of FTSE Group, responsible for global strategy and marketing as well as the FTSE4Good Indices. He was part of the small team of nine people that established FTSE as an autonomous company in 1995.

While at FTSE, Will worked on a range of projects that underpin the success and expansion of the Group, including a three-year posting in New York to establish and manage FTSE Americas, the company’s successful first overseas business unit.

Before his New York appointment, Will served as FTSE’s global sales director based in London. Earlier in his career, he worked in the London Stock Exchange (“LSE”) Indices Unit, where he was Head of Commercial Management. Before this, Will spent five years in the derivatives industry, specializing in the marketing and promotion of traded options while working with the LSE’s subsidiary, the London Traded Options Market.

Will holds a BSc in Zoology from the University of Wales and a Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) Diploma from the Guildhall University in London. Will is a founder member of Ethical Corporation Magazine's Editorial Advisory Board and a Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham’s International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility.

He is a guest lecturer at Warwick University Business School in the UK and a member of the UK Sustainable Investment Forum’s Sustainable Pensions Advisory Board and Edinburgh University’s Carbon Benchmarking Steering Committee.

He has presented and written numerous articles on the subject of responsible investment globally and has contributed to a number of books on the subject. He was also the co-author of Unicef’s “Child Labour Resource Guide”.
